Adding single digit numbers
In this activity, the student is learning to add single digit number. We used the laminated number cutouts with Velcro to choose the answer from. The numbers also had touch points and visual blocks to represent the number.
Use blocks as manipulative
Use blocks to teach counting. The manipulative needs to be based on student’s interest. Since this student’s favorite activity is playing with the blocks, the teacher used these blocks for teaching counting. Students with autism like to count teddy 🧸 bears/ gummy 🐻 bears, or Thomas the train 🚂 as manipulatives. Be creative and develop the worksheet based on students’ interest.

"Where is the snake?" writing activity
WHERE IS THE SNAKE ACTIVITY
This activity will help students build their vocabulary and language. Place the snake at different location in your classroom. Take pictures. Make a PowerPoint, and share the activity with students. Ask students to describe the picture by asking, "where is the snake?" Use different animals. In this activity the wooden snake was used. Since it was students classroom, they came with meaningful sentences. The target word was snake. Students made sentences like: The snake is on the laptop. The snake is coming out of the trash can. Probe students thinking, by asking them, as why is the snake coming out of the trash can.
Orange Ice Slushy Cooking Activity
We are cooking Orange ICE SLUSHY.
Ingredient: Yogurt, Orange Juice, Ice Cube, Honey
Add all the ingredients in the blender.
Introduce counting and measuring activity while cooking and make it fun for students. Use visual signs for ingredients.
